Learning Connections Hamilton is a new name for us! Formerly, we were Adult Basic Education Association. We’ve been serving the Hamilton community since 1983. Over the last 2 years the board has been working diligently on a strategic plan that including a rebranding exercise. We will be continuing to build our new brand in 26-27 and building a new strategic plan for 2027-2030 and want you to be a part of it!
One of our key strategic priorities is continuing to increase and diversify our revenue sources to create a larger impact in our community. We are searching for someone that has experience making granting decisions (government, foundation, corporate, etc.). We want to better understand the funding/granting landscape and how decisions are made. We’ll also welcome applicants with experience fundraising for nonprofit organizations via corporate, government and foundation grants. If you don’t have experience in either of these areas but are interested in volunteering, we certainly welcome you to submit an application as well.
We are a governance board. The board meets monthly for 1.5 hours, September to June. The day of the meeting is determined by the elected board members at our Annual General Meeting (AGM). The AGM is held at the Leaders in Learning Event each June. This year, the event is Tuesday, June 9, 2026 (10:30 am – 1 pm). The AGM will be after the event.
Please note that due to a potential conflict of interest, paid staff of Get SET (Skills, Education and Training) programs are not eligible to apply. If you become a paid staff member at a Get SET program during your tenure as a board member, the board will review the situation and make a decision about continued board membership.
